Cassy was the first character I made in Guild Wars. I used to play Diablo 2 some years ago, where I enjoyed being a Barbarian or an Amazon . So I figured my Warrior should be some sort of female Barbarian at first. Soon after that I found out, that this game doesn't work anything like Diablo 2. Then the idea of being some kind of Paladin came to my mind and I went Monk as secondary profession.

Cassy Deluxe is my nickname in almost every game I've ever played. That's why my first GW char had to have this name, too ^_^

Cassandra and her sister Lisa grew up in the surroundings of Ascalon city. Their father Duke de la Fleur de Lis was a great swordsman and a brave defender of the Great Wall. Unfortunately the parents were never able to get a son as successor of the Duke's position, before Cassandra's mother died at a very young age. Her father considered Cassandra useless and gave her away to a convent when she was 14 years old. Cassandra refused to leave her sister but soon accepted her fate. In the convent she learned writing and the art of healing. Restless at heart she was never able to find peace in the sacred convent and left it for good.

She went back to Ascalon where Prince Rurik himself led a big recruitment campaign to fill the ranks of the glorious Ascalonian Defenders. Cassandra didn't hesitate to sign up and soon found herself in the Ascalonian Academy where her own father tought the students the art of close combat. Cassandra kept a deep grudge against the father who sent her away and separated her from her family and most of all from her beloved sister. Cassandra was very talented at armed and unarmed close combat and proved her mettle against highly decorated Warriors of the Defence Forces of Ascalon. Her aim was to be better than her father to show him he had been mistaken.

She challenged her own father to a duel when the ground started shaking and debris fell from the buildings of Ascalon - and the Charr siege began. Side by side they both fought off hordes of Charr until suddenly an arrow pierced the neck of Duke de la Fleur de Lis and he fell in a halo of blood. Cassandra blind from anger and pain cut and sliced her enemies in a rampage until she regained consciousness...

his neck pierced by an arrow

the adrenalin escaped her bloodstream, her senses sharpened... she dropped to her knees - and allowed herself to cry for the first time in her life. More Charr came and surrounded her and she didn't even lift her blade again, awaiting the final blow to return to reunite with her father in eternity...
Suddenly the sound of charging armored feet - shouts of men - then the fight began "DRIVE THEM BACK!" "SHOW NO MERCY!" - she knew this voice... HER SISTER! Filled with new energy she lifted herself up and joined the charge joyfully. They were too few to drive the Charr back, but they managed to retreat to Fort Ranik, where Lisa and Cassandra buried their father...
On that day they swore an oath to live and give honor to their name through the most perilous fights - for all eternity

As a Paladin Cassy gains her strength from a pure heart, a strong will and an unbreakable faith in the five gods of Tyria. Cassandra worships all of them more or less...

Balthazar - The god of war and fire is the god Cassandra addresses in her prayers directly. She asks him for guidance and strength in battle. Balthazar favors her strength and grants her his blessing.
Dwayna - The goddess of life and air is the second most important god for Cassandra. She asks Dwayna for protection.
Lyssa - The goddess of beauty and illusion favors Cassandra a lot, even though Cassandra doesn't seem to worship her explicitly.
Melandru - The goddess of nature and earth is basically unimportant for Cassandra. As a faithful believer in the five gods she offers Melandru her prayers frequently.
Grenth - The god of death and ice. Cassandra despises him for taking her father before his time. She accepts the fact that all life must end and she asks Grenth to guide the souls of the fallen to the place of eternal rest.
